This Pub is Closed Long Term

A 15th century brick and black beamed pub close to the Tuesday Market Place. It has been modernised in a smart fashion but keeping the old features. There is a bar and seating area at the front, and to the rear it opens up with a high beamed roof and large inglenook brick fireplace, there is also seating and a second bar on a mezzanine. Coffee and cake served from 11am every day. On Sundays a carvery is available 12-4pm.There is a public (pay) car park next to the pub.

Conversion

A brick and black timber-framed merchant’s house, built around 1480 that is Grade II*-listed. It became a pub in 1980 and has since been smartened for dining, retaining old features. There is a small bar and seating at the front, to the rear it opens up with an impressive high beamed roof and large inglenook fireplace. The minstrels' gallery has become a mezzanine overlooking the bar. There are meals (not Mondays) and real ale.
