Originally built in 1884, as the Manse for Kingussie's Free Presbyterian Church with money from a local man, George Ross Mackenzie, who emigrated and found fortune in America as the president of the Singer Sewing Machine Company.

Converted to a Hotel in the 1960s.

Taken over by the current owners in Nov/Dec 2017.

[Update 27 May 2024: in addition to the Trade Winds on hand pump there are bottles available from Cairngorm and three from Spey Valley.]
