Hotel and restraunt.

Northern Sands Hotel is located in the village of Dunnet, just four miles from the most Northerly point on mainland UK, Dunnet Head. It makes an ideal base to stop off, or tour, the Northern coast of Scotland by car, bicycle or on foot. Locally, Castle of Mey (6 miles), and of course an obligatory visit to John O'Groats (11 miles) is de rigour for many visitors to the area. National and international surfing events are also held on the normally empty two mile stretch of golden sand of Dunnet Bay which has to be a must for very pleasant walks, with more sheltered walks in the local forest. At the end of Dunnet Bay, near Castletown, there are the old Caithness stone works which is worth a visit. Of course the whole area abounds with wildlife. The hotel is close to many local and national cycle routes and is regularly used by "end to enders" on their journey to, or from, Lands End using various means of transport. Using the Hotel as a base, tours further afield towards Cape Wrath to the West, or over the Pentland Firth to Orkney by the car ferry from Gills Bay, or passenger boat from John O'Groats are an easy day trip.
