The Old Anchor is a traditional community pub with a half timbered and gabled exterior and dates from 1897 when Young & Co bought it as a beer house. It gained a full licence in 1949. The pub like many in the area suffered some damage during WWII and was later altered to extend the saloon bar in 1966. The atmosphere is friendly. Homemade food Wednesday evenings through to Saturday plus Sunday lunch. In summer, the ample paved back garden is an attractive drinking area. There is also additional trestle tables at the front. On the 20th March 2013 Young's sold the pub to an investment company which subsequently sold it on to a property developer. Sunday lunches. The pub will close after last orders Monday 28th April 2014.
