Talking Heads, Southampton (Maple Leaf)

The Maple Leaf started out as a music club come members bar around 1990 and is now the new premises for the Talking Heads music venue.

The back room houses Talking Heads and has a long bar on the left with four handpumps (entrance charges will apply); this is certainly the best place around for live bands and good beer. The front bar - the Maple Leaf Lounge - is open to the public. This is a large room which appears to be the ground floor of a house all knocked through into one, with a variety of styles from various eras up to the 1980s. The bar has six handpumps, most of which feature beers from local breweries.

The venue is due to close at the end of September 2018. The front bar may already have closed or may only be open for larger gigs - the doors were closed for the regular Tuesday evening acoustic jam session on 14th August - therefore do not rely on the opening times shown here.
