Commercial Inn, Sowerby Bridge

This Wetherspoon conversion is named after the inn which was previously recorded as The Commercial Inn, Wharf Street, in the 1861 local trade directory. It re-opened in December 2013 after an extensive rebuild. It's main area at the front is new and consists of a large glass-fronted room with many small bistro-style tables for dining. The one long bar, with standing space, contains 10 hand-pulled beers which they aim to have permanently available, many from local and regional microbreweries. At the right of the bar is a small dining area with wood-burning stove, leading to the inn's conveniences. Around the corner is a long room at the rear behind the bar, providing a more intimate dining and drinking area with booths and tables. This room was part of the original pub, has exposed original stonework and contains information boards and paintings from local artists. There is also another wood-burning stove. The steps to the original cellar, now not in use, can be seen covered by a glazed panel. There are two outside patio areas.
