This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Old Sun was situated in the once-thriving riverside industrial area on the eastern fringe of Northfleet. It traded from 1766 to 1990, having been rebuilt in 1905. It was part of the local Russell's brewery tied estate and would have passed to Truman's on takeover in 1930. As the image shows, it ended its days under the ownership of Theobald's, but by that time it had become very run down and the re-investment needed to revive its fortunes was not provided.
It has been used as offices since closure, but externally the pub is pretty much as it was prior to closure. Its riverside location provides much potential. Is it too much to hope that The Sun may one day rise again?
