An 18th-century town-centre pub with log fires and a welcoming atmosphere. It serves a selection of guest ales and an extensive menu of bar food and sandwiches that changes regularly. Traditional roasts and chef's specials are available on Sunday in the bar or dining area. A variety of works of art is displayed. There is a heated patio at the rear and a wood-burning stove too. Saffron Walden is busy on Tuesday and Saturday market days.
