Hotel that is over 850 years old freshly refurbished. The property was used as a base by Oliver Cromwell during the Civil War and reputed to be haunted by more than one friendly ghost. Now more of a town-center restaurant with accommodation and the bar is place you visit on the way to your food table. The new owners are Charles Wells and the appearance is now very improved from its previously run-down state. No bar area chairs but is still possible to get a real ale. Part of the Hotel is a Coffee & Cake Shop open from 7am. A 10% service charge is added even for beer orders.
