Gate Inn, Saffron Walden

An ex-Greene King local that is now a Pizza Restaurant serving a beer though really a restaurant rather than a pub as is revealed by the website name. This is the only drinking establishment in the Thaxted Road area of Saffron Walden remaining. The food quality is excellent with pizzas baked in a large oven at the bar. Bottled Shepherd Neame Bishop's Finger and Morland's Old Speckled Hen are alo usually available.

UTT/20/3429/FUL | Proposed conversion of existing restaurant (A3) to 2 no. dwellings (C3), including part demolition of single storey rear elements and erection of ground floor and first floor extensions. Erection of 3 no. detached dwellings to rear of site, utilising existing access of Thaxted Road, with associated parking and hard/soft landscaping. Refused Jun 2021.

UTT/21/2629/FUL | Proposed conversion of existing restaurant (E) to provide 2 no. dwellings (C3), including part-demolition of single storey rear elements and erection of ground floor and first floor extensions. Erection of 3 no. detached dwellings (C3) to the rear of the site, utilising existing access off Thaxted Road, with associated parking and hard and soft landscaping. Refused Nov 2021.
