Large, well appointed Victorian local with three bars and function room. Garden. Plays host to varied clientele including numerous sports teams (rugby, darts, pool, crib etc).
Closed and sold by August 2014 following revocation of license in June 2014. Future uncertain. Plans to convert it into a Buddhist temple have been block by the planning committee who said “ the use of the site as a pub was a "valued part of the social infrastructure of the area"
Reopened in September 2022 as a cafe - Lotusbloom Cafe.
Historic Interest
Typical late 19th century Victorian public house in original external condition, The pub name commemoratesthe marriage in 1881 of Francis Greville (then holder of the title) later the 5th Earl of Warwick to 20 year-old Frances Maynard, heiress to the 560acres of the manor or Walthamstow. He was to become Lord Lieutenant of Essex.
