This Pub is Permanently Closed
From the owner:
I have had 5 tenants in 9 years, none have made a trading profit and some have lost a lot of money.
They have all been on very low rent, but even rent-free they would not have made a profit.
There has simply not been the footfall and this has been the case since I bought the pub about 10 years ago.
So, reluctantly, I am converting the premises back into a residential house.
It has been a public house since about 1900.
Historic Interest
One of the oldest building that are pubs in Cockermouth, a free house, but off the beaten track and unable to be viable, despite strong efforts.
