An imposing traditional pub built in 1923 in the heart of residential Handbridge for Walkers Warrington Brewery. It is a rare, highly complete example of an interwar "improved pub" design. Neo-Georgian and Art Deco architecture includes bow windows and a semi-circular entrance portico. The two room layout is separated by a spacious central serving area. One side equates to a quieter lounge and includes dado panelling, fixed banquette seating, bell-push service buttons and an art-deco ceiling rose. The other has pool, darts and hosts occasional music nights.
