This is a hotel, which means that the bar is only open to residents.

Originally a colliery manager's house, this pleasant hotel stands on the outskirts of the town, set in five acres of landscaped grounds and woodland. It is renowned not only for the choice and quality of its beer but also for the warm welcome. Log fires burn in winter and there is a large function room catering for weddings and private events.

Recently sold subject to contract - fate as yet unknown (summer 2016)
