Historic Interest

In 1977 this was one of only a very few Thwaites tank beer pubs, it is not known to have sold cask beer at any time since then, though a handpump did appear on the vault bar around 2010 for a while before disappearing, it was never seen to be in use. This was after it became an unbranded pub as it no longer fitted the image the Brewery wished to portray, it was being run by Weston Castle Ltd which was in a Corporate Voluntary arrangement at the time of closure and a year later was in a creditors voluntary liquidation. A total of 46 other ex Thwaites owned pubs were also involved.
