Historic Interest

The pub was included in the 1980 selective Greater Manchester Beer Guide as selling Tetley Mild and Bitter (E). But by May 1981 it was a Tetley Keg pub. By January 1989 it was selling Tetley Mild and Bitter (H) and was listed in the 1989 Beer in Bolton Guide. How long the cask beer lasted is uncertain, but the pub was bought and run by Ishvar Patel for many years. In later years it was rather unusual in that it had shuttered windows both on the ground floor and upstairs.
