Historic Interest
Delicenced on 16/07/13 when landlord was Ron Ridgeley and owner Enterprise Inns. In May 1981 it was a Whitbread Keg pub. By June 1983 it had been refurbished and was now selling Duttons Bitter and Castle Eden Ale. By June 1985 the Duttons Bitter had gone. There was an article about the pub in Bolton Beer Break 2 in February 1986. On July 14th 1987 a Branch Meeting was held here. In January 1989 two Northampton Town supporters came for the match against Bolton, found that Castle Eden was only 85p not £1.25 they paid at home, they missed the match but went home happy after 10 pints! In the 1992 Great North Western Beer Festival programme it was listed as selling Boddingtons Bitter and Castle Eden Ale. Another Branch Meeting was held here on April 1st 1992 and later in 1992 Thwaites Bitter was on the bar, this was one of a number of guest beers, including Morland Old Speckled Hen. In late 1993 Boddingtons Bitter was on sale for only a £1, to attract the local students. Another Branch Meeting was held here on March 3rd 1994
