Historic Interest
In late 1976 during a Tetley's strike the pub sold Hartleys Best Bitter. The pub was listed in John Stotts 1977 Guide to Good Beer in Bolton as selling Tetley Mild and Bitter (H), with Juke Box, darts, pool, snacks. Old Walkers pub on new estate. In May 1981 it sold Tetley Mild and Walkers Best Bitter (H). By August 1983 it was oon a Tetley list as only selling Tetley Bitter and by June 1985 that had gone too. Pub closed in late 1985 and was refurbished and reopened selling Tetley Mild and Bitter (H). In the Great North Western Beer Festival it was mentioned that the pub was selling Cains Bitter. The Pub was included in the Good Beer Guide in 1999. Last Licensee was Jessie Jones and owner Trust Inns who had a poor record of keeping their Bolton pubs going. It was listed in the Good Beer Guide in 1999. The handpumps remained on the bar until closure but they had been unused for quite a few years.
