The landlord, previously at the Butlers in Reading, bought the freehold at this back-street multi-area boozer. He chooses beers he likes and offers two or three different ales, with local beers featuring on a regular basis. The ingredients for the home-cooked meals are bought locally. Beer festivals are hosted in summer.
