This Pub is Permanently Closed

Having previously been a traditional village pub (Chequers) and a fish restaurant and pub (John Dory), this was most recent a Harley-Davidson themed bar and grill (Gas Gorilla), but closed its doors in late 2016. At present a group of local residents are attempting to purchase it under the Community Right to Bid guidelines and re-open it as a village pub and community hub. Local branch POTY 2006.

Historic Interest

Pub was granted a Asset of Community Value registration on 22.1.18 following an application by the Barkestone Hub. Prior to that, the pub had been the subject of a number of ACV nominations rejected by Melton Borough Council.

On the 5 February 2018, Melton Borough Council rejected a planning application to convert the pub into two residential properties.
