This Pub is Permanently Closed

The White Bear has changed hands over the past few years. After a refurbishment in 2015 a handpump was added to the bar but this unfortunately wasn't much used.

The pub is split into two rooms, best room/lounge which is used for karaoke about three times a week. The tap room is set out with darts, pool TV and games machine and conformable window seating. The pub closed in 2019 and was bought by developers who applied for consent to convert the site for housing. This was refused in December 2020 but the developers immediately re-submitted the application which was approved in February 2021. Barnsley CAMRA is in dispute with the Council about this, believing that the developers provided misleading information which the Council did not check up on before granting permission.
