Historic grade-II listed pub adjacent to the Old Market bus interchange and close to Castle Park. The building was once the home of the 'Pied Poudre' court which settled disputes between market traders. The first floor juts out over the entrance and houses the 'Court Room' which is available for functions. There is a raised section to the rear, as well as a Victorian partition leading to the stairs and function room. At the rear of the pub is a 19th-century iron water pump operated by a wheel six feet in diameter. Now operated by Guerrilla Pubs, the pub serves one regular and two changing beers, often from Bristol Beer Factory, and has an adventurous burger menu. Live Sport is shown on multiple TVs. Jazz sessions are held every Sunday from 5pm-9pm.
