The Blue Anchor sits up just above sea level overlooking Romney Marsh. Steeped in history and boasting the infamous Ransley Gang of smugglers as some of its past clientele! Built in the early eighteenth century the Marsh still had estuaries and ships sailed up as far as the Royal Military Canal. The Blue Anchor has enjoyed a successful if chequered past and now provides fine beer and food to locals and travellers alike. It is local legend that the Blue Anchor Ale House was originally built to service a ship of the same name that regularly docked nearby.
