This Pub is Closed Long Term
A nice, tidy pub next to the Minster with interesting original wood panelling in the front snug. Converted in the 19th century into the York Arms Hotel, it is haunted by an active poltergeist that shuts open doors and opens closed ones and also throws utensils around the kitchen! See the story board at back of pub.
In buildings of circa 1840, near York Minster. The old core is the cosy 'shop-style' front bar with wood panelling (possibly of the 1960s) and the entrance corridor with door-hatch. Before 1938 there was only this front section plus a small back smoke room, now much opened-out. The modern left-hand lounge was added in 1978.
