This Pub is Closed Long Term
With an aptly named lounge bar, this pub was built over 300 years ago as a private residence with material that may have come from the castle ruins. It was known as the Castle View Hotel for many years before reverting to the present name which originates from its days as Woodfield House in 1648. Mainly food led (no meals Sun/Mon eve) and catering for all dietary requirements there is a choice of dining areas, either the smart restaurant or comfortable lounge. Easily missed pleasant beer garden at rear. Note this is primarily a restaurant although those just calling in for a drink are welcome. It shies away from presenting itself as a drinking establishment, nevertheless it supports the local Baa Brewery with beers sold in both keg on (fake) handpump and bottled form.
