This Pub is Permanently Closed
Sept 2016 - Works have completed. Upstairs has been incorporated into the residential conversion of the next-door shop. There’s a sign advertising the premises for A4 use. I couldn’t see inside and I don’t know how much of the footprint (let alone interior detail) remains. Was a nice pub, quite old interior. A strong campaign is being waged to prevent the pub being converted to residential and it has been listed by Islington Council as an Asset of Community value. The pub closed 29/4/14 for 12 months due to the building works next door to convert a former tobacconists shop. Locals say the pub may stay unchanged. Planning application for demolition of first floor rear extension and construction of a two storey rear/three storey side extension and alterations to the roof profile to the existing building; internal reconfiguration to provide 3 no. residential units approved March 2015 retaining ground floor public house.
Historic Interest
