Handy for restaurants, the nearby arcade and the borough market, the Westgate is a true locals' pub in the heart of the town. It is popular with racing and Rugby League enthusiasts as well as shoppers and after-work drinkers.
Historic Interest
Grade II-listed building. The pub takes its name from the adjacent street leading to the west gate of the historic Piece Hall. The elaborate frontage in Union Street belonged to the former Town Hall Tavern, with which it was merged in 1962.
