Known for many years as the Rydal Arms, the pub is undergoing a refurbishment as of early March 2019 and will emerge as the Walker Arms, named after the former landlady Gladys Walker. The description below is from April 2018.
Once the domain of the UK's longest-serving landlady Gladys Walker (1951-2001), the Rydal Arms is a large pub just to the south of New Milton's shopping area. The front part of the pub is fairly utilitarian with the right hand end as you come in being a public bar area with pool table, and before that there are a couple of sofas clustered around a fireplace. This part of the pub is due for refurbishment (as of April 2018). At the back is a smart and airy restaurant/dining area with its own small bar, refurbished September 2017 to a high standard with wooden floorboards, a brick fireplace and substantial wood rafters. Outside is a large garden with plenty of bench tables.
