Named after an old steamship, The Vigilant is an imposing red brick pub, adorned with many hanging baskets , in Harton, South Shields. On entering there is a large bar and there is a smaller bar area to the rear. There is a quiz held every Monday and Karaoke on Saturday. evening. Music night popular on Sunday evening. Frequent buses pass the door , for South Shields or Sunderland. Small car park to the rear.

Reopened after a brief closure and under new management.
