This traditional and popular back street corner local, dates from the 1860s. It's decorated in a traditional, dark and comfortable style and it retains some original features of historic interest including a well in the rear bar area - the source of water in the days when the pub brewed its own beer. There are a couple of large TVs spread around the long single room, but are not normally too obtrusive.
There is a quiz on Wednesday evenings and live music plays most Sunday evenings, check their Facebook entry for info.
History:
Originally trading as the Victoria Inn. This previously chain owned pub was closed in 2018, but was reopened as an independent free house in late December 2018. It was renamed as the Mumbles Ale House, which had moved from a small micropub originally located a few hundred meters away in Dunn's Lane. In Feb 2022, under completely new local private ownership, it was returned to its original name and returned to being a more traditional full scale pub.
