The Unruly Pig is primarily a very popular restaurant (booking is recommended via its website) but is classified by CAMRA as a pub as drinks may be purchased separately from a meal (although drinkers may have to sit outside unless they have booked a table). It is located close to a nature reserve and Woodbridge golf course. It was extensively refitted after a fire which occurred soon after current owner took ownership. It has won many gastropub and restaurant awards (details can be found on its website).

It has cycle racks for cyclists exploring the area, and is dog-friendly (with doggie treats available), but diners can eat in a dog-free area if they require.

Historic Interest

Called Cherry Tree until mid-2010. In June/July 1981 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that this Tolly Cobbold pub had new tenants, Chris & Mandy (previously at Ipswich Hand in Hand) after extensive alterations had been completed. Although a regular entry in the Top 50 Gastropub awards, owners Madalene Bovini-Hamel & Ross Pyke dislike the term gastropub & prefer to call it "a pub with a restaurant". Renamed the British Larder mid-2010 to reflect it having been taken over by the owners of the website of that name & to avoid confusion with the Cherry Tree in Woodbridge. This pub changed hands in early 2015 and was relaunched as The Unruly Pig in March 2015. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found here
