One star - A pub interior of special national historic interest
Listed status: Not listed
A small hotel built 1903 in typical Edwardian-style, with an angular corner tower. The public bar is still intact, retaining its simple counter and plain, four-bay gantry with large areas of mirrors and several drawers for cash and small items. Features include a vestibule entrance, stained and leaded pictorial front windows, contemporary fireplace and half-height panelling with vertical moulding. The lounge and dining room have no old fittings. Update 2024 : the pub re-opened in June 2024 after being closed for five years. Thankfully, the historic features in the bar have been retained. There has been a general (and much-needed) spucing up and a new ceiling with mirrored panels has been installed.
Community Supported
July 2022 Oxton Community Development Limited (a Community Benefit Society) currently operates the Oxton Community Shop. They were also exploring making a bid to buy, however the pub was sold to a couple who wish to run it as a pub/hotel etc.
The Oxton Community Development Limited continues to support the pub and the new owners.
