In corner of the Market place, this grade II listed building dates from 1698, becoming a coaching inn around 1740. Now a J D Wetherspoon hotel, it offers good value accommodation and poet William Wordsworth stayed here in 1802. There are several comfortable drinking areas with those either aside of the entrance retaining a market town hotel feel. Off the main lounge are several old brick-vaulted cellars imaginatively converted into cosy bars. Beer range varies but usually includes up to six real ales.
This Pub serves 3 changing beers and 3 regular beers.
