The North Manchester Branch held their meeting here on November 19th, there was a guest speaker from the local Licensed Victuallers who expressed strong views about pubs providing any information to the customers as it might cost their members, the landlords, some money! The pub was listed in John Stotts 1977 Guide to Good Beer in Bolton as selling Wilsons Bitter and Mild (H). In April 1980 the pub was again threatened with closure for the ongoing road scheme to avaoid the main road turning 90 degrees. It still hasn't happened. The pub was included in the 1980 selective Greater Manchester Beer Guide and the following year in the national Good Beer Guide. Perhaps to celebrate new handpumps were installed in April 1981 for the Wilsons Mild and Bitter. A pub crawl visited on June 22nd 1983. A social was held here on July 7th 1985, and it was included in the 1985 selective Greater Manchester Beer Guide. It made another appearance in the Good Beer Guide in 1989. By 1991 the pub was selling Websters Yorkshire Bitter, Ruddles County and had Timothy Taylors Landlord on as a guest beer. In the 1992 Great North Western Beer Festival programme the pub was mentioned as selling Batemans XXXB. Late in 1993 it started selling Holts Bitter. By August 1998 the pub had been changed to a single room layout, losing all its character in the process, worse still the beer was John Smiths Bitter.
