The river Lambourn runs next to the pub and it is near the Lambourn Valley Way long distance footpath from the Ridgeway to Newbury.

Refurbished with new cellar equipment and beer lines and under new management since September 2019.

Under new ownership from May 2025 and reopened 18th September 2026. The following description dates from before then:

The varied menu includes pub classics.

Spacious interior with separate seating areas. Main bar area has high stools and tables. TV Screen with racing channels in racing lounge, on left from main entrance. Dining areas to rear have windows to the river Lambourn.

Patio garden area on right side of pub has a mixture of tables, chairs and benches. A colourful variety of flowers are planted in high level beds made of timber on the river side of the patio garden area.

'The Little Shefford' kiosk at the side provides tea and coffee which can be taken away or enjoyed on the riverside terrace.

Historic Interest

19th Century, built as a house and later converted to a pub. Grade II Listed. Historic England list entry 1136024
