This Pub is Closed Long Term
Following the discovery of a ghost sign from an earlier use during renovations, the former Quaggy Duck and Market Tavern has been reopened as the Suttons Radio. Having been closed for a number of years the London pub operator Antic has taken it on and reopened it on Thursday 23rd November 2017. Wooden tiled bar floor throughout, mainly bare bricked walls, usual shabby chic Antic furnishings with historic radiograms making a central floor ornamentation. Ornate eye catching glass panelled false ceiling. Of note is a large wall-mounted copy of the local area extracted from Charles Booth's London poverty maps. The bar counter top is made from snooker table slate and the corner pockets are still visible! Pub quiz Sunday evenings, for which one may book a table in advance. 5 handpumps. One of 11 Antic pubs placed for sale with Fleurets in October 2018 but subsequently withdrawn. A kitchen has been long promised and seemed more imminent with the pub staff asking for suggestions from customers for potential menu items in April 2019. From summer 2019 several pop-up kitchen operators served here at weekends, serving things like tacos, nachos and quesadilla. but this ceased in December 2019 and re-started with yet another new operator "Taco Collective" from the end of January 2020.
