This Pub is Permanently Closed
A short-lived pub, thought to have been built in the 1840s along with the neighbouring houses and chapel in The Square, to serve the local community which was centred around the local mine and brick works. A school room was established above the bar which outlasted the pub by a few years. Stories tell of the teacher having to remonstrate with rowdy drinkers at times.
