The Spa is a large landmark pub situated on the old main road from Rayleigh to Southend. Located on a roundabout in Hockley it is easily accessible being close to the railway station, Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street line, two bus routes and the local taxi service. The Spa was built in the 1840's, and has a distinctive Victorian style from the outside having large sash windows with arch type decorated plasterwork around. There are window boxes and planters which look lovely during the Summer months and there is a large patio to enjoy the sunshine. Inside now has a bright, contemporary feel with neutral colour scheme and new furnishings. As well as free standing tables and chairs, there is a comfy area with lounge seating. The pool area also has tall bar tables and chairs. Still a great venue for sports, matches can be viewed around the pub on large TV screens. One real ale Doom bar is served
