Large open-plan Wetherspoon pub housed in a former snooker hall and ice cream parlour. It is named after a Norman knight and lord of the manor whose descendants later emigrated to the United States. The pub offers value-for-money beer and the usual well-priced Wetherspoon menu. The three regular ales are complemented by up to four guests often from local micro breweries. Twice yearly beer festivals are held and a large selection of local and international bottled beers are now available. They take 50p off CAMRA Vouchers
A beer garden protected by a tall fence, has been provided to the side of the pub. Children are welcome till 9pm. A pub quiz is held every Wednesday from 7.30pm. Other regular events are held . Concord Bus Station is directly opposite .
