The Shipwrights is one of the oldest pubs in Sunderland, dating back to the 1850' s when there were half a dozen shipyards in the area. The pub is situated next to the River Wear near the end of Ferryboat Lane - a no through road off the A1231. Multi-roomed , decorated in Tudor Style with low beams. Meals are served daily with specials such as Steak on Wednesday evenings and a Curry night on Thursday. Bottles of Double Maxim are available .There is a small beer garden opposite literally overlooking the river. Note the mural that adorns the pub wall overlooking the small car park. The Coast to Coast cycle path passes nearby. The bus service is over half a mile away on the other side of the A1231 ( Broadway). Note 4pm opening Monday- Thursday
