Attractive and welcoming street corner pub. The central bar dominates this pub, which has large windows to both streets and much etched glass. Local listing:- This attractive Victorian public house is located on the corner of Allen Road and Shakspeare Walk (alternative spelling). Constructed of London stock brick on first and second floors, the ground floor has brown glazed bricks with black string courses. Two bays front Allen Road, there are three bays to Shakspeare Walk. First and second floors have some original sash windows, one window on second floor is bricked in, upper floors are embellished with Italianate detail: rendered cornice, pilasters, string course above the pub sign in a band along the wall. Ground floor on two sides has triple wooden door with glazing, plus large plain windows. Entrance porch to Shakspeare Walk has mosaic tile floor spelling 'SHAKESPEARE'. There are a projecting pub sign and lamp, each on metal brackets, and a single-storey extension at rear.
