Overlooking the harbour and South Ronaldsay beyond, the Sands was originally a 19th century fish-store. It is popular with both locals and visitors alike.

Meals may be taken in the comfortable, friendly bar or separate restaurant each with their own menus, both specialising in local seafood.

Dive boats and yachts can tie up at the pier outside. Kirkwall is 8 miles to the north and other attractions such as the Italian Chapel and Churchill Barriers are within easy reach.
