At the west end of the market place The Sandpiper is decorated in traditional style and has a distinct focus on dining. It has been Egon Ronay recommended. It is split into several small drinking/eating areas and a small terrace outside at the front forms a real sun trap in good weather. Convenient for the Wensleydale Railway station. Guest beers usually from Yorkshire Dales Brewery or Black Sheep.

There have recently been disturbing reports about drinkers being turned away if they are not eating.
