Conveniently situated in the town centre close to the beach and shops, the pub was built in 1760 and became an alehouse a century later. The original name, the Rose, changed in 1876. There is a garden and patio at the rear. Friday night entertainment could be a DJ, disco or singalong. The three Shepherd Neame beers usually include one monthly special from the microbrewery. The pub has been recently refurbished without losing its historic character. reopened with different phone number and hours, closing times may vary if trade is quiet.
