This Pub is Closed Long Term
Closed on 20th March 2023 due to the Couple currently running the pub retiring.
An imposing stone pub near the church, cricket ground and River Sett. The interior boasts oak panels and pews creating a relaxing atmosphere; real fires in winter. Four guest beers from local micros are always available. A restaurant and function room complete the facilities (food available all day in Summer). The village is the base for many leisure activities in the Dark Peak and was the birthplace of actor Arthur Lowe.
Active Campaign
The pub, owned by Wellington, closed in 2023. It has been registered as an Asset of Community Value with High Peak Borough Council. Now the owners of the building have put the pub on the market for £850k though they're also advertising, via Fleurets, for new tenants. The Save the Royal group have triggered the ACV moratorium to bid to buy the pub. See the group's website for more details, including a Go Fund Me Page to help raise money for the project
