Historic Interest

In May 1981 this was a Greenall Whitley keg pub, and it remained keg until it closed. In early 1993 it was swapped to Burtonwood and finally Marstons. The pub had its own takeaway chippy and an enviable reputation that no other pub wanted. The Spar was built on the large car park at the rear, this had seen little use over the years. An attempt was made to have the pub ACV listed but failed at the last moment when it was discovered that contracts had already been signed and the council notified prior to anyone in the pub being aware.
