Village free house and hotel on the River Taw and close to Umberleigh Railway Station, which is ideal as a base for fishing, shooting, walking and cycling breaks. Part of the Rail Ale trail. One and a half miles of fishing are owned by the pub. A regular house beer, "The Riser" is usually accompanied by two locally sourced ales. The bar leads through to an adjoining eating area and there is also a separate restaurant, together with recently refurbished accommodation of 8 en-suite rooms, 7 of which are doubles. Outside an attractive patio area overlooks the river and the A377. New Owners took over in December 2021.
