Red Lion, Newton Longville

Pub closed approx 2006, but traded as Thai Restaurant till 2007/8; reopened as Indian Restaurant (again apparently without planning permission) but that subsequently also failed. Punch Taverns sold the pub to Micro Dash Properties Limited (MDP) in 2009. Property was vacant until 2011 when let out under the name The Newton Bar and Bistro, but the lease was later forfeited. MDP started new self-run venture called The Newton Arms, (Gastro Pub with Coffee and Sandwich Bar) but this also failed and MDP closed the business. Building had remained vacant and unoccupied since 2012.

Change of use of Former Public House to accommodate 3 residential dwellings was permitted: 18/01244/APP. Work almost completed on visit - 30 March 2023
