The Red Lion is a carefully refurbished 18th century family-run hotel. The cosy, comfortable and welcoming bar overlooks the marketplace. It is popular owing to its consistently well-kept range of cask ales, which the bar staff take great pride in serving in top condition. It is a rare outlet for Bass in the locality. On fine sunny days the experience is enhanced with tables and chairs outside beneath attractive floral displays. Live Music Events are held monthly and Steak Night is the first Saturday of the month. A blue plaque depicts that Jimi Hendrix stayed at the pub on 29th May 1967 when he played at a nearby gig with Pink Floyd and Cream.
