Former three bar coaching inn dating back to the 11th century, now converted to one large bar but still retaining much of its character. Situated in the most picture postcard area of Freshwater in the church square and by the Causeway from which splendid views of the River Yar can be had towards Yarmouth. Noted for its fine food and ales when to avoid disappointment it is advisable to book a table for that special occasion. May close earlier during the winter. There is now a guide for a picturesque walk to its twin pub the Wheatsheaf in Yarmouth.
